No Two Hawaiian Hotels Are Alike
Shows, Shows and More Shows
Because Hawaiians love sharing the culture of the islands with visitors, it is very important to the state to make sure that events are always readily available. One way the Hawaiian hotels participate is by offering different kinds of shows in hotels on the islands. Of course, it’s not up to the state which hotel offers what kind of entertainment, because the hotels have no problem offering these services on their own.
The smaller hotels may not offer much in the way of entertainment, but when it comes to the larger Hawaiian hotels, they must offer something really special in order to compete with the other venues. The shows range from Polynesian to traditional Luaus and even larger extravaganzas. Some of them include dinner, drinks and other types of entertainment. However, don’t expect much for fewer than twenty dollars. The larger shows can be much more expensive, but they are worth the money.
Some hotels like the Hilton Hawaiian Village go all out to offer an entire evening extravaganza on Friday nights. The evening starts with Hawaiian cocktails and then moves on to a three course dinner with a full Luau. After the show, head to the beach and settle in for an unforgettable fireworks display. One weekend a month, you can head just a bit further down the beach for a unique movie experience. Believe it or not, a drive-in size movie screen was built right on the beach to offer once a month viewings of new movies.
Hawaiian Hotels and Pricing
There is a big difference in what the many Hawaiian hotels offer, so naturally there is a big difference in price. The basic locally owned small hotels are much less expensive and may have a great location, but don’t expect much more. These hotels are really places for people who just want a hot shower, television and clean sheets. Then there are the moderately priced hotels. They offer more amenities and nicer rooms, but do cost more. Of course there are some of the most luxurious resorts in the world located on Oahu and the Big Island, but be prepared to pay a premium price to stay at these properties.
Choosing Hawaiian hotels can be an overwhelming experience, but not an impossible task. The first thing to do is to figure out where most of your time is going to be spent and find a hotel in that area. Then decide on a price range and that should narrow down your choices. If you still can’t make up your mind or have questions, consult a travel agent.
